Hot and Cold

Oy!

I'm a bad blogger. I've been so very wrapped up in school, applying for the next stage of school, having Katie and her family here, helping to deliver a baby and now being sick sick sick. It's exhausting!

I got all 4.0s again this quarter. 4.0s that I earned with blood, sweat, tears, excessive second hand smoke damage to my lungs, and probably several years off my life in stress and exhaustion. Oh life is good.

The good news is that I was ccepted to the teaching certification program at Western Washington University. I was the first pick of 80 applicants. That was gratifying. I have been offered a grant and am applying to an indentured servant type scholarship program. It's all good. There is so much to do to prepare to start this fall, but I am excited.

Katie and her kiddos were here for a week. I had a BLAST with them, well except the whole lack of sleep thing. I find Aiden delightful with his "let's get the heck out of here" and random "BITCH" exclamations. It was nice to connect with Katie again. I even enjoyed the pestilent manny curses upon his germ spreading body.

My little nephew arrived on June 28. He is 8 pounds 6 oz and a complete delight, at least to me who can hand him back to his mom and LEAVE finds him delightful. I was able to assist in his delivery (I didn't do much) and it was truly one of the coolest experiences of my life, other than being sick and exhausted that is. I was terrified that I would find the whole thing gross or suffer watching my friend in pain, but no such thoughts came into my head. I was way to focused on helping her.

Ever since the visitation of Katie, kids and the pestilent manny I have been really sick. I ended up in the ER and then on forced bed rest. This has lead to some fun adventures in design.

In the booklust category I have FALLEN IN LOVE with the Twilight series by Stephenie Meyer. It's a YA series about sexy vampires, written by a MORMON of all odd things. I have been doing some design work and philosophy debating on their lexicon forums. I love designing. I look forward to meeting Stephenie in August. I have also read and loved the Sharing Knife series by Lois McMaster Bujold and enjoyed meeting her on the 28th. And of course I can't wait for the new Harry Potter. We are going to go pick up our books at midnight. With a lightning scar painted on my new nephew's head.
